APLAC "Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation"
The Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, APLAC, is an Asia Pacific regional organization that associates accreditation bodies for laboratories, verification units (inspection bodies), and reference materials producers. Its membership consists of 35 accreditation bodies from 21 countries.
APLAC’s main objectives are:
- To promote the acceptance by the member countries of conformity certificates issued by accredited bodies in all areas.
- Improve the accreditation service offered by its members.
- Organize proficiency tests and activities related with accreditation bodies from that region.
- To work jointly and/or cooperate with national and international accreditation bodies.
In 2005 ema signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with APLAC, for testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, and verification units (inspection bodies). Furthermore, the MRA for medical laboratories was signed in 2007.
In June 2009, a peer evaluation was carried out for the assessment of the testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, and verification units (inspection bodies).
In June 25, 2014, in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, at the First Joint General Assembly APLAC-PAC, was signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for Proficiency Testing Providers.
